Making a Difference
In underserved areas of Westchester County and New York City, youth from low-income households seldom have the opportunity to engage in culturally enriching experiences beyond their immediate surroundings. Research indicates that exposure to diverse cultures can yield significant benefits for young people, including heightened cultural identity, increased self-esteem, enhanced community engagement, improved mental well-being, greater tolerance for diversity, and healthier interpersonal relationships. Moreover, such exposure may contribute to a reduction in behavioral health challenges among this demographic.
